About us
At Home by the Sea, we build supportive communities for special or at-risk populations, as well as for those who have experienced trauma. We create a safe and inclusive environment that allows those in need to undergo a process of healing, development, and personal growth. Together with them, we build lasting communities that feel like family.
Our Programs
Home by the Sea offers transformative programs that support and strengthen our communities and help build resilience
Safe Harbor
A program designed to bring strength, support and renewed hope to those most affected by trauma, acts of terror and war. Safe Harbor provides a unique and safe refuge for a long-term, wholesome process of recovery, restoring a sense of control, building resilience, and overcoming trauma.
Emerging as an immediate-response marine program for displaced communities in Eilat, Safe Harbor continues to develop, offering solace for displaced communities, bereaved families, and families of those held hostage.
Navigators
A Maritime-Leadership Program dedicated primarily to at-risk youth and people with special needs, combining theoretical and hands-on experience in the sailing world. Navigators is adapted to each group’s requirements and circumstances, using a wide variety of marine crafts, and even accompanies participants onwards onto Skipper courses and licences. The program provides a framework for flourishing teamwork and cooperative skills, personal development, and assists the participants in acquiring practical tools to achieve personal success and future employment.
Families by the Sea
We specialise in forming inclusive communities for families with children with special needs, offering strength and hope in their ongoing journey. The program focuses on the whole family - parents and siblings are actively involved, not just as companions. With guidance and support, participants enjoy quality time at the beach, strengthen family ties and relationships, and form new perspectives of themselves, their surroundings and their families.
Families by the Sea ia a yearly community program with life-altering impacts.
Donate
Your support directly impacts our participants and their families, aiding their journey to rebuild and recover, and helps us continue our mission of making the sea accessible to all.
We invite you to keep updated about our compassionate marine community and together, make a real difference in the lives of our community.
Participants Share Their Stories
"The sea and the community have boosted my confidence in many areas of life. My social circle has expanded, and I have discovered so many new things about myself."
Sharon Yurman, Volunteer
"I know that my sons don't just enjoy the activities; sometimes it's cold and painful, but that's exactly what makes it so important—they are experiencing life itself."
Dror Ben Ami, Dov and Lev's father
"It's fun that I can just come to the sea and surf with my sister. This is the first time in my life that I say this proudly."
Avia Diskin, Ellie's sister
"A human act of love and giving. An act by three people, a rare trio – who shares a dream. They have proper intentions, diverse capabilities, and a willingness to invest whatever it takes. In a world longing for the shared human experiences, this is truly remarkable."
Dr. Eti Haggai, Advisory Forum
"The sea, along with the team, knows how to heal our souls. We spend some time in the water, taking a moment to reflect and process everything that has happened. The activities in the sea made me stronger"
Israela Tzuri, Mefalsim Kibbutz
"We haven't gone to the beach together as a family in 15 years"
Said the mother of one of the children after the first activity.
"It's so simple yet so beautiful. That's Home by the Sea for me"
Tomer Hacohen, Volunteer
"This year, Erez is in a lot of pain, but when he participates in the activities at the sea, surrounded by the love of volunteers and friends, his soul fills with happiness and he overcomes everything. And I can breathe a little easier"
